Weight loss journey

I must admit, in this “journey” of mine, I’m not really applying myself to my full potential. What I mean by that is, I am still having the occasional glass of wine (occasional meaning last night), a tablespoon of sugar in most of my coffee cups (not all), and I’m not tracking my workouts and meals. After all, the whole reason why I started this thing was to become more aware of my habits! And also to bitch my face off..

I’ve come to the conclusion that pole fitness is terrific, but just not helping me reach my fitness goals. I need something that’s going to make me sweat, burn, and ache, hallelujah! The best shape I’ve ever been in was definitely when I was a member at 24 hour fitness doing group classes like Turbo Kickboxing and Body Pump. Pole fitness is a great combination of rhythm, flexibility, endurance and strength while also teaching you to be ladylike and sexy in your regiment. I love dancing, and when I discovered this awesome combo of a workout, I bought a living social coupon and indulged. I quickly became and member, and here I am today, about 20 pounds heavier than I could and SHOULD be. Where did I go wrong? I eat fresh clean and organic about 90% of my day, most of the week. The only thing to blame is inadequate workouts!

It’s going to take some hard work and sweat to get me where I need to be. Dammit, just when I thought I had the ‘skinny’ thing down, too! Turns out you can’t eat a lot and not do cardio and still maintain a size 2 waist line.

Post weekday promo funk

Last night I had a promotion for Three Olives Vodka, Loopy! They're always pretty fun. My boss is always there, setting up shop for us and taking our pictures for us, which is nice. We went to two bars: nodding donkey, and State & Allen. I like State & Allen for their killer salads. Fresh spinach, grilled asparagus and FRIED artichoke! Holy. Moly. Also, they're green everything basically. They do this thing called "tree-tini" where for every (particular) martini orded, they'll plant a tree (somewhere I forgot). Nodding Donkey is also cool because they do corn hole on the patio, baller.

Want to see what I get to wear to my promos?! Don't be so excited.

ThreeOlives Vodka

So now that I just made your day with that photo, onward...

Also something neat I did was make a butt ton of smoothies for my week.

I crammed tons of Kale, carrots, spinach, Strawberries, blueberries, bananas and apples in the blender along with some grapefruit juice. Oh yeah, and don't forget the asparagus I cooked. Love it!

I think I'm going to give this whole 30 day ab challenge a 'go'. Taking pictures of myself (every day) and posting them (every day) will make me put up for shut up. I've never had a super strong stomach, so now it's on. Got to get ready for thanksgiving coming up!

Day 1...

Meals:

  • 1 whole wheat bagel w/ peanut butter
  • 3 cups of awesome smoothie

Definitions of 'Typical'

My parents always told my brother and I growing up that we were unique and special. Now that I know that's all a bunch of bologna, I still hold a standard in my head that I should always stand out and be myself. Truly, most parents tell their kids they're the best thing since sliced bread. It's jut up to us to actually get off our asses and fulfill those titles. With all that cheesy goodness being said, in the world you will run into people that think they are better than you. It's inevitable.

Confidence can easily be masked by someone's massive ego in pretty much any situation. Ethnicity, gender, seniority, whatever. Sometimes when someone criticizes you for something you naturally just are, it cuts deeper than most other jokes.

I recently was called a 'typical american' simply because the flavor of my yogurt was vanilla instead of plain by someone that isn't only NOT American, they're an illegal immigrant. (this post is about people running their mouths, not about my standpoint on illegal immigrants, that's a whole other story that I don't have near enough time for). First of all, I thought vanilla is plain. Not in the literal sense of the flavor, but in the general sense that it's boring as hell, yet delicious.

Knowing my coworkers ridiculing personality (yes, coworker), I was ready for her to critique my breakfast choice for that morning. I figured she'd cut me down for eating vanilla yogurt and not eating something like kale and whole wheat tortilla with a poached egg. Although I love those things, shut your fucking mouth.

"Typical Americans, nothing can ever be plain with you. Thats why you are so fat. In my country, we ate plain yogurt on everything, even some pasta dishes, oh they're so good. Maybe I should cook that tonight.."

Yeah, you go do that. And I'll sit here eating my vanilla yogurt with chocolate chips and have a party in my mouth. As a blonde skinny white girl, I feel like I have it really great. That doesn't give me an excuse to be ignorant to others though, so I do take into consideration other lifestyles. NOT saying that blonde is a lifestyle, I don't condone any of that.. But when people don't give me the same amount of respect I initially give them, I kind of take it personally. But in the end all we can do is laugh it off, because I'll be here all day bitching and moaning if I consume myself being worried about people's opinions.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't understand what about someone makes them think they're above another. I also don't understand how someone from another country would work so hard to get here and make a living and NOT be a legal citizen is going to complain about her new home. Beats me!
